    It's so wonderful to see you again. I started watching you while you were in Australia, ut was just before Janes joined you. I am definitely not a monogamous knitter anymore. I currently have a Vertices Unite, a Tundra sweater, a Habitation Throw on my needles. I have just finished a pair of socks too. My youngest kiddo is off to University this year. They have only just come back home after 6 months in New Zealand. I really want to go now but I am a wheelchair user and don't know how accessible it would be. Still going to go though. My eldest daughter is working one day a week but, hoping to find a job soon. My husband is working full-time and doing semi pro archery. I want to make all of the things but need more time! I can't believe that your little girl is already 2. I know people used to say this to me but it's true, enjoy that time as it goes in the blink of an eye! Oh I forgot, I am trying to learn how to spin too. 😁

    Oh Grace!!! It is so lovely to see you and hear what you have been up to!! I can't believe your baby is already 2!!! Time flies!! (My babies are 15 and 21 as of tomorrow! WHAT?!?!) Leif use to LOVE my spinning wheel. I think I got it when he was 4 and he use to sit down at the wheel and pump the peddle as fast and he could and make motorcycle noises. It was hysterical and devastating at the same time (especially when I had painstakingly spun yarn on there)! Oh, I believe that stitch that you like is called the Star Stitch. I knit Kaia and myself the Wilde jacket years ago and that stitch was on the hem and hood. I love the way it looks!

    As always, just a delight to have an update from you! Next time I'd love an update on the Jumper for James....did he try it on? Is it perfect without any changes? Inquiring minds... 😄 I promised my own husband a jumper which is still not even on the needles yet, but he has socks and hats, so at least his head and feet are warm!!! Be well and enjoy your sweet toddler!

    Totally true. But Anglophones(especially in the US) are rarely interested in learning about foreign languages and cultures. I therefore don't have high expectations for them. In a like manner, Americans butcher most Russian words. If I tried to correct every bad pronunciation of Russian, Gaelige, German, etc, I hear, I would go mad. 😮

    • @GraceTheBabbler
      @GraceTheBabbler 17 дней назад

      This word specifically was driving me mad because within the knitting community it’s used quite a lot. But you’re so right. There’s a fear of trying in a lot of anglophones, fear of getting it wrong so they don’t even try to put an accent on for fear of sounding silly or disrespectful.

    Your history is entirely wrong. Google "Gandhi Charkha Movement". Long story short: Gandhi promoted fabric production as a means of Indian self-sufficiency and self-rule, so much so that it was put in their flag (hardly hiding it from the British). A "charkha" was any size spinning wheel, large or small. Gandhi held a contest to develope a highly portable one so that every Indian could carry one and, whenever they had spare time, could spin. The winning design is what we now call book charkha--or just charkha. He took one to prison with him to make his own clothes.

    Hello, I'm using 3 skeins of the "same" hand dyed color on the body of a sweater. How do I get all 3 to end on the same round, back at the beginning so I can switch back to 1 skein for a short row hem? I know I have 3 live rows and need to get back to one. Thank you!

    c:" 1949, My grandfather had a birth cirtificate constructed from the memory of a Navarro County Tx who had know his father who was born in 1828-30 and died in 1916. Apparently he remembered how Henry Cumpston had pronounced his home town as it appeared on the birth certificate as Denny Gall. It took some minor figuring to derive Donegal from that.
